Dr Andy Brookes

Sustainability Consultant and Mentor

Sustainability and Strategic Change Consultant with over 30 year’s experience

Andy has more than 30 years’ experience as a manager in several organisations across the public and private sector. He has managed improvement programmes and initiatives in both manufacturing and service settings, including glass manufacture, civil engineering and local government.

Andy is an Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Lincoln and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has 15 years’ experience teaching across a range of subjects in the field of organisation and management. He has taught at undergraduate, postgraduate and executive development levels as well as being MBA programme leader.

His specialist area is leadership and strategic change, with a particular focus on understanding why change so often fails. His teaching has become increasingly focused on sustainability in recent years and this has involved developing and delivering new programmes and modules.

Andy’s research explores sustainability from the perspective of the societal and organisational transitions required to address the global challenges and social
problems that are currently impacting on human and ecological well-being. His work adopts a critical mode of enquiry in that it seeks to identify the underlying drivers and systemic causes of present-day unsustainability. He also has an interest in collaboration and organisational networks, modes of organising that are essential for addressing the multiple crises facing contemporary society.

Andy has worked with a number of organisations in a consulting capacity to support them in developing impactful sustainability strategies. His approach to consulting is to equip organisations with the knowledge they need to create and deliver their own sustainability transition.
